Around June of 2009 I was tapped to feature local station, Univision’s 5th Annual Premios Texas.  Not only did I host a ticket giveaway for the event, I also featured pop quiz interviews with 4 of the nominated and/or performing artists as a weekly countdown to the event that went down on Thursday, August 13, 2009 and aired later.  That year was the only year THE REAL popolio was contacted to cover Premios Texas.

My fellow Panamanian and reggaeton artist, Makano, was the Week 4 Premios Texas Artist.  This is the third showing by an artist from this special Premios Texas content on this countdown and leaves only one pop quiz unranked.  This is highest and last showing by Premios Texas pop quiz Artist.  The first was Anita Benner repping Los Bad Apples at Number 27, who was originally the Week 3 Artist.  The second was Grammy-Nominated, Edinburg-based, Tejano artist, Bobby Pulido at Number 8, who was originally the Week 2 Artist.

It was exciting to feature an artist that shares my cultural roots.  And, one that is so popular not only in Panama, but in Latin America, to boot.  To this day, this interview continues to get multiple hits with numbers that eclipse most of the other Year 1 posts.

Grammy-Nominated, Edinburg-based, Tejano artist, Bobby Pulido, was the Week 2 Premios Texas Artist.  This is the second showing by an artist from this special Premios Texas content on this countdown.  The first was Anita Benner repping Los Bad Apples at Number 27, who was originally the Week 3 Artist.  

Bobby Pulido’s pop quiz was an interesting case because of his answer to question Number 13, which is a Short Answer question stating, “If I could share one thing about myself it would be…”  He shared that he has celiac disease.  

It was so casual and matter of fact that it took me by surprise.  To this day, I have no idea if this is the first place he shared it or if it was common knowledge.  I googled it and couldn’t find anything else out there regarding it.  I also tried to reach out for a follow-up interview or feature and never heard back. 

Because of his answer I created a special post dedicated to the Celiac Disease Foundation.  I felt his answer shouldn’t just be left hanging in cyberspace and that I need to try to do something positive around his confession.  He put it out there and I felt like I needed to provide some information or a resource that might be helpful to people.  See that post here.

In June/July of 2009, I was reach out to to cover the, at the time, 5th Annual Univision Premios Texas, that took place on Thursday, August 13, 2009.   I featured pop quiz interviews with 4 of the nominees/performers.

The way I did it  this time around was to post one pop quiz a week as a 4-week countdown to the event.  Guess I had better time-management skills in the beginning.  Go figure!

This was also one of the first times I hosted a giveaway at popolio.  Like MY TOP 10 countdowns, I haven’t done any giveaways in many months, either.  At this time, I hosted not 1, but 2 trivia contests of 3 questions each, for 2 sets of tickets for each winner to attend Premios Texas 2009.
