8. Bobby Pulido pop quiz
Around June of 2009 I was tapped to feature local station, Univision’s 5th Annual Premios Texas. Not only did I host a ticket giveaway for the event, I also featured pop quiz interviews with 4 of the nominated and/or performing artists as a weekly countdown to the event that went down on Thursday, August 13, 2009 and aired later. That year was the only year THE REAL popolio was contacted to cover Premios Texas.
Grammy-Nominated, Edinburg-based, Tejano artist, Bobby Pulido, was the Week 2 Premios Texas Artist. This is the second showing by an artist from this special Premios Texas content on this countdown. The first was Anita Benner repping Los Bad Apples at Number 27, who was originally the Week 3 Artist.
Bobby Pulido’s pop quiz was an interesting case because of his answer to question Number 13, which is a Short Answer question stating, “If I could share one thing about myself it would be…” He shared that he has celiac disease.
It was so casual and matter of fact that it took me by surprise. To this day, I have no idea if this is the first place he shared it or if it was common knowledge. I googled it and couldn’t find anything else out there regarding it. I also tried to reach out for a follow-up interview or feature and never heard back.
Because of his answer I created a special post dedicated to the Celiac Disease Foundation. I felt his answer shouldn’t just be left hanging in cyberspace and that I need to try to do something positive around his confession. He put it out there and I felt like I needed to provide some information or a resource that might be helpful to people. See that post here.
