This is has been a long time coming, but before COMPLETELYFULLYREALLY shutting down I wanted to make sure to get this post out there. This is the last 1 of 2 posts I will be writing for THE REAL popolio. Promise!
I intended to post this closer to the date of the event, but things came up and I never was able to get around to it.
These are all the artists and organizations that donated items (CDs, stickers, gift cards, and other goodies; hence the name) for the goodie boxes for THE REAL popolio’s 2nd Year Anniversary B&W Party featuring 1990s pop music by local DJ, HOT BRITCHES!, that went down on Saturday, September 11, 201o at local mediterranean restaurant, Phara’s.
I made 2 versions of the flyer. See them here and here at my personal Facebook Page.
So a boisterousSHOUT OUT and gigantic THANK YOU to (in no particular order):

During Austin PRIDE on Saturday, September 10, 2011, I interviewed some of the featured artists of the inaugural OUTlander Fall Festival. In addition to this post, I created my own YouTube Page to feature them.
Here’s the fourth of the series with ATX hip hop soul duo, God-Des & She, who were the Austin PRIDE 2011 HEADLINER at the OUTlander Fall Festival. Unlike the other interviews in this series, I spoke to God-Des & She BEFORE their house-bringing-down festival closing set on the Empire Stage at Lipstick 24.
Thanks to Melissa Martin, Director of Operations for bMUSEd Entertainment, for the opportunity & God-Des & She for being regular peeps, so funny they had me rollin’, and for being so generous with their time as I know they are busy, busy ladies.
What you see is not actually the entire interview, I spoke to them right up until they had to go on stage (unbeknownst to me), so we were suddenly surprised so they could hurry up and go tear the roof off. It was all pretty exciting.
As stated in the interview, God-Des & She will be honored with their own official day in Austin, as proclaimed by Austin City Mayor, Lee Leffingwell, on Thursday, November 3, 2011. Festivities and a performance are scheduled to take place at City Hall. Go to the Facebook Event Page for details.
3. Roach Gigz pop quiz The SXSW2011 popolio pop quiz interview domination on this countdown concludes. San Francisco-based hip hopper, Roach Gigz, takes the Year 3 Number 3 spot with his SXSW pop quiz. This is the sixth overall and now highest and final SXSW 2011 pop quiz entry on this countdown. Roach Gigz joins Canada’s BRAIDS at Number 30, Australia’s the Jezabels at Number 23, Japan’s Peelander-Z at Number 21, ATX’s own, Quiet Company, at Number 20, and Mexico’s She’s a Tease at Number 19 .
See the original Monday, March 7, 2011 post here — Roach Gigz pop quiz interview – SXSW Artist. It includes his song “Hold Up” featuring J Stalin and Nas’ video for “Street Dreams.”

4. The Lusitania 5Q El Paso rock & roll band, the Lusitania, take the Neon Desert El Paso Week crown on this countdown with the seventh and highest Neon Desert entry. It joins the summary post for all the Neon Desert content at Number 17, BB Gun Johnny’s pop quiz tied at Number 28 with Feedback’s LOTTO Interview, the the Royalty’s 5Q at Number 14, GOBI’s 5Q at Number 10, Zach Paul’s 5Q at Number 8, and Cigarettes After Sex’s 5Q at Number 7.
During Austin PRIDE on Saturday, September 10, 2011, I interviewed some of the featured artists of the inaugural OUTlander Fall Festival. In addition to this post, I created my own YouTube Page to feature them.
Here’s the second of the series with the Chieftess of Krunk (or Crunk, but I want to make it an extra special title) Pop, Esther LaVonne. I spoke with Esther after her set on the Club 606 Stage at Lipstick 24.
Thanks to Melissa Martin, Director of Operations for bMUSEd Entertainment, for the opportunity & Esther LaVonne for busting my chops.
5. The Blistering Speeds LOTTO Interview The Blistering Speeds take the Year 3 Number 5 spot with their Room to Rock LOTTO Interview. This was part of a series of LOTTO Interviews tied to a local charity event. As I previously stated in prior posts, I volunteered to MC Room to Read’s 2nd Annual Room to Rock charity showcase fundraiser on Friday, August 26, 2011.
Along with that, I decided to feature interviews with each of the scheduled bands. It all came together kind of fast and we were pressed for time, so I decided to use the LOTTO Interview format from a weekly music column I used to do for another site.
This is the fourth and highest ranking LOTTO Interview (and third from this special Room to Rock series) to make the Year 3 countdown. The first featured another ATX-based band, Feedback, who tied with a BB Gun Johnny pop quiz at Number 28. The second posted at Number 12 and featured SALVO, who is another ATX artist. The third was yet another Austin band, Day vs. Night, at Number 11. The Blistering Speeds, Day vs. Night, and Feedback were all part of the Room to Rock series of LOTTO Interviews. That only left one band off this countdown.
